Not right now, I'm listening to Skip Hop

It actually blows my mind when I think about how many different types of music there are. I mean there's so many types that I almost need a map when I walk into large music shops. I think it just makes everything so much more confusing when I'm trying to buy music. I can never remember if Green Day is punk or heavy rock or pop/rock and I end up having to check every section which takes ages and then the shop people think I have no life.
The other day I was in a cd shop and I noticed a section I hadn't seen before. It was only a small section labelled as 'Skip hop'. Intrigued I began running through possible classifications in my head of what on earth skip hop could possibly be. Finally a shop assistant made his way over to me and asked if I needed any help. I pointed to the Cd and asked "actually I was just wondering what skip hop is." Well he gave me a look. I'm sure you can all appreciate what I mean by 'a look'. It was the kind of look that screamed "OMG YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT SKIP HOP IS?" I instantly felt ashamed while I waited for his answer. "It's Aussie Hip Hop' he said disgustedly before walking off to probably go laugh about me behind my back.  I actually do a like a bit of Aussie hip hop (skip hop) I'm quite into Bliss en Eso and Drapht. I don't know if this makes me a 'fake fan' because I don’t even know what it's classed as or a 'true fan' because I don't care about the labels. Personally I think it just means that I’m still clueless about music genres.
So anyway the next time I walked into the shop with my dad I felt so superior because I knew what skip hop was. I walked in and said loudly 'meet you back here dad I’m just going to check out the skip hop'. He looked at me like I was crazy but if anybody else heard I’m pretty sure they would have been like "dayyyum that girl knows about music!'
Because the thing about skip hop is that it’s a lot of fun to say because most people have no idea what you’re talking about and then you can give them 'the look' when they ask you about it. Now if someone asks me something and I'm listening to Drapht I just yell out "Not right now, I'm listening to Skip Hop!"
