Crisis Alert! - what to do when 2 of your favourite bands are playing at the same time

This post is about the horrible moment when the set times are released and you realise that your 2 favourite bands are on at the same time!!! My dad inspired this post when he couldn't think of any options and was prepared to settle for option 3.

Option 1:
Choose a band. This is the most obvious yet most difficult suggestion. Sure you can pick up a band but then what if you love them equally as much? Do you go on who you’ve seen before? But what if you skip a band because you’ve already seen them before and they go on and play the best show ever while your other favourite band who you also love plays a rubbish set? Also what if you’re wearing a band tshirt? Are you obligated to go and watch the band on your shirt play? Too hard! Next option!

Option 2:
Go to half and half. This requires a lot of planning and is really not as simple as it seems! Firstly you have still have to choose 1 band over the over because whoever you go to 1st you are guaranteed a better spot. So choose the band you want to see the most of and get to them early. Leaving could be a problem depending on how close you are. It’s probably best if you’re at the barrier because then you can always go over it. You must then run to the other stage and watch your other favourite band. Again this option has serious flaws and requires a lot of research. Firstly you should look up what songs both bands will open and close with and if possible a proposed set list. This will allow you to make an informed judgement as to who you want to see at the start and the end. However it’s still a pretty rubbish option because you only get to see half of each set and festival sets are already really short! Also who’s to say that one bands not going to do something completely amazing when you’re not there like crowd diving or wearing an Indian headdress and pulling people up on stage. Next option!

Option 3:
Stand in the middle of the stages and cry because you can’t choose. Probably not the best option because you not only miss both bands but you look ridiculous and face the possibility of getting bashed up.

Option 4:
Get really mad at both of the bands, think screw you both and go watch a little unknown band. At the time this can seem like a really good idea and you may even discover a really good band that you didn't know about and really enjoy yourself. However later while you’re stalking the bands on facebook you’re going to really regret it. You’ll see all the awesome pictures people will upload of them with setlists, various band members and drumsticks that they’ve caught and get really jealous. Then when the band thanks everyone and says they were the best audience and uploads a picture of the crowd your jealousy is going to turn into anger. And then when the reviews come out and it says that they were the highlight of the festival and the singer ran through the crowd shirtless while everyone belted out all their old classics, your anger will turn into depression and you will be forced to wallow for a couple of days while torturing yourself watching dodgy YouTube videos of what you missed.

Option 5:
This is the only option that really makes sense to me but still your guaranteed to miss something awesome. Choose 1 band to watch the entire set of and then fly over to another state to see the other band. This is the only option that allows you to see both bands entire sets and you had just better pray that they don’t spontaneously do something awesome while you’re at the other band! Still requires research because if they’re Australian make sure you if possible you see them in their hometown because you’re almost guaranteed a better show! If one of them has never played in your hometown than definitely see them here and the other band in another state. When choosing which band to see in which state you should really scope out the crowd before making your decision. If your hometown crowd sucks then the band will play half heartedly or try extra, extra hard to get the crowd involved. It really just depends on the type of band they are, but you being the stalker that’s willing to fly to another state to see them should already know how they are live from many, many of hours youtubing!
